Compare Methods |
|
This page may take a while to load but it is worth it! What follows is a side by side comparison of what you will expect to get from different methods of taking a panoramic image.* Conventional Method: The white box is about what you would get with a 24 mm lens on a 35mm camera. The red box indicates what you would get with the same camera in "panorama" mode. Even with a professional Fuji, Linhoff, or ArtPanorama the red box shows about all that you will see. The view is less, not more! The viewer is tricked into believing that the scene is wider than normal.
Fisheye lens on conventional camera:
Swinglens: Noblex, Horizon, Widelux
Rotational: LarScan, Hulcherama, Roundshot The original image was taken by Michel Diseriez with his home built LarScan using a 17mm lens on 120 format film. The SuperRoundshot using the same lens would be even wider! (more image on the top and bottom) The white box indicates what you would get with the 35/35 Roundshot.
*The boxes have been drawn by eye based upon my experience with these cameras. They are only an approximation. Use them to get the general idea. If you want to take the time to make up exact representations, I will be happy to show yours here. Otherwise, keep the comments to yourself. |
